DescriptionView of Louis Richmond Cheney and his nephew, George Wells Cheney, Sr., on an outdoor patio or porch. Louis is leaning back against the railing and George is sitting on it, to his right. There is a lawn with some trees in the background. Louis is middle-aged. He is wearing a light colored suit with dark socks and white shoes. His hands are folded in front of him and there is a cigarette in his mouth. George appears to be a teenager or young man. He is wearing a dark suit and tie, with dark socks and shoes. His right leg is bent up and resting on his left knee and his hands are resting in his lap.

The photograph is mounted on a piece of gray cardstock. There is a scalloped border printed in black ink on the cardstock, forming a frame around the image area.

Louis Richmond Cheney was a brother of George's father, Wells Wadsworth Cheney. Louis served as mayor of Hartford from 1912-1914. George was the only child of Wells and Lucy Compton Street.
