DescriptionBust length studio portrait of Lucy Compton Street as a young woman, probably taken when she graduated from Vassar College in 1883. She is looking off camera to the right. Lucy is wearing a basque jacket that has large pearl buttons over a white lace blouse. She is wearing drop earings and a choker necklace that has a cameo pendant hanging from it. Her hair is piled on top of her head and is decorated with a comb.
NotesDate note: Estimate based on life dates, approximate age of subject in photograph, and the fact that Lucy graduated from Vassar College in 1883. (Vassar was a women's college in Poughkeepsie, New York.)Lucy Compton Street married Wells Wadsworth Cheney in 1887.
