DescriptionThirteen men are seated around a table. Most have beards or mustaches. They wear robes, cloaks, and sandals. Plates, chalices, and small loaves of bread are on the table, which is covered with a tablecloth. A large platter in the center of the table also appears to contain bread. The man in the center holds a loaf of bread in his left hand. His right hand is raised. The men immediately to his left and right have their hands crossed or folded as if in prayer. A man in the right foreground holds a chalice or kylix in his right hand and holds a ewer in his left hand. A jug or amphora is on the floor nearby. Another jug is in a basin at the far left. Drapery is tied back with a cord at the upper left and knotted at the upper right. The diners are also enclosed by drapery. A hanging lamp and two columns supporting stone arches are beyond the enclosure.
