DescriptionThe head and shoulders of Jesus Christ, a man with a beard and mustache, wearing a cloak and a crown of thorns, is in an oval. A rope is tied around his neck. A reed is in his right hand. Rays of light emanate from behind the oval. A dove with outstretched wings is directly overhead. Fourteen circular vignettes surround the oval: Christ before Pilate, Christ bearing the Cross, Christ falling with the Cross, Christ meeting his mother, Christ falling a second time, Christ and Saint Veronica with her veil, Christ falling a third time, Christ bearing the Cross with women and children at the right, the removal of Christ's garments, Christ nailed to the Cross, the Crucifixion, the Deposition, the Entombment. A palm tree, a Cross with the letters "INRI", a ladder, and a spear lie on the ground at the lower left. At the lower right, a rooster or cock is standing on a post to which are tied a whip and a reed. A crown of thorns lies nearby. Three dice rest on a stone step. Hills are in the background.
