DescriptionA coach has collided with a two-wheeled cart on a dirt road. The cart, in the foreground, is on its side, with the right front wheel of the coach on top of it. A basket and three pieces of meat are falling to the ground. Vegetables and packages remain in the cart. The driver, who wears a smock, pants, and a cap, is falling out the back of the cart. He holds a whip in his hands. His horse is on the ground with his head raised. The left rear wheel of the coach is running over a man, apparently a servant in livery who has fallen off the back. The legs of a second man, apparently the driver, are visible between the four horses, which are plunging, kicking, and attempting to run away. A man leans out of the interior of the coach with his arm outstretched. A large rock with a tree stump on it is in the right foreground. A stream bordered with grass and weeds runs along the near side of the road. A board fence lines the far side. Fields, trees, and hedgerows are beyond.
