DescriptionAt the right, an angel with wings uses a watering can to water a large tree. A second angel, at the left, puts out his hand to stop a demon who holds an ax. Both angels wear robes. The demon is naked except for a small strip of drapery. He has horns, wings, and a tail with a pointed tip. At the roots of the tree are the words "Faith" and "Repentence". On the trunk are the words "Hope" and "Love". The word "GRACE" is in rays of light above the top of the tree. Round fruits growing on the tree are labeled "Self / denial" "Prayer" "Fasting" "Contri/tion" "Humil/ity" "Alms" "Joy" "Pati/ence" "Tempe/rance" "Prude/nce" "Meek/ness" "Forti/tude" "Chasti/ty" "Resign/ation" "Justice" "Truth" "Gentle/ness" "Compa/ssion" "Mercy" "Industry" "Purity" "Fidelity" "Good/ness" "Benev/olence" "Contem/plation" "Per/sever/ence" "Heaven/ly minded/ness". A dove is perched on a branch in the center of the tree. Low rolling hills are in the distance across a broad river.
