DescriptionA man and a woman stand outside a house. The woman wears an apron over a dress with a wide collar and cuffs. She wears long pendant earrings. The man wears a frock coat, top hat, and long pants. The woman has her left arm on the man's shoulder. Their right hands are clasped at his chest. A walk or drive leads to an open gate. A man, probably a servant, holds an overcoat or cloak and a small trunk. A coach, possibly a stagecoach, waits in the road beyond. The driver holds a whip in his left hand and the reins in his right hand. A woman is seated in the interior of the coach. Low hedges and flower gardens line the walk. Flowers grow in an ornamental urn on a pedestal near the house entrance. The house itself appears to be built of stone. A curtain with tasseled fringe is visible through a window. Trees and hills are in the background.
