DescriptionCropped portrait of Ward Cheney from the waist up, probably taken while he was at Yale. The image area is in the shape of an oval. Ward is wearing a three piece suit over a white shirt that has a standing collar, with a wide, polka dot tie. There are two men standing directly behind him but only their torsos are visible. This particular view was probably cropped from a group portrait. The photograph is printed on a sheet and mounted on a piece of light gray cardstock. The cabinet card has beveled edges.
NotesDate note: Estimate based on life dates and approximate age of subject in photograph. Ward graduated from Yale University in 1896. Cataloging worksheet gives date as circa 1890. Cataloging worksheeet in object file states that Ward died of shock after being shot in the leg twice while serving in the Army in the Philippines.
