DescriptionHead and shoulders length portrait of Ruth Cheney as a girl. Her head is tilted down to the right, and she is looking in that direction. Ruth is wearing a dress or blouse that has a decorative, gauzy top layer, voluminous sleeves of the same material, and a high neck. Her hair is pulled back into an updo.

Ruth was the youngest child of Frank Woodbridge Cheney and Mary Bushnell Cheney. She had eleven older siblings. She married Charles Archibald Goodwin in 1912.
