DescriptionHalf length view of Howell Cheney as an older man, in what appears to be a library. He is sitting in a large, patterened arm chair. Howell is wearing a three-piece suit with a watch chain, white shirt, and a dark tie. His eyebrows are dark but the rest of his hair is gray or white and he has a receding hair line. There are books on a bookshelf in the background.
NotesDate note: Cataloging worksheet in object file gives date as circa 1925-1935. However, another copy of the photograph has "about 1950" written on the back. Photograph was made from negative 1988.85.85.
Howell was the son of Frank Woodbridge Cheney and Mary Bushnell Cheney. He had ten siblings, one of whom (John Davenport) was his twin.
