DescriptionThree-quarter length studio portrait of Howell Cheney as a boy. He is kneeling on a chair and resting his right hand on the back of it. Howell is wearing dark pants and a coat that is buttoned down the front. The collar of a white shirt is peeking out from underneath the coat, and there is a white string tie around his neck. Howell is looking directly at the camera.
NotesDate note: Estimate based on life dates and approximate age of subject in photograph. Cataloging worksheet in object file gives date as circa 1878. Howell was the son of Frank Woodbridge Cheney and Mary Bushnell Cheney. He had ten siblings, one of whom (John Davenport) was his twin.
