DescriptionFull length studio portrait of the Horace Bushnell Cheney, Sr. family taken in about 1904. The mother, Mary Pierson Cheney, is standing and resting her left arm on the decoratively carved back of a high-back chair. She is wearing a white dress that has decorative lace over the shoulders and bodice. There is a brooch pinned on the high neck of the dress. The father, Horace, Sr., is wearing a suit and is seated in the chair next to Mary. He is holding their youngest child at the time, Stephen Pierson Cheney, on his lap. Stephen is wearing a white dress and booties. Horace and Mary's oldest child, Horace Bushnell, Jr. (Bushnell), is standing in front of Mary. He is wearing a sailor suit. His sister Antoinette Phelps Cheney is sitting on a stool to his left, holding a doll. Antoinette is wearing a white dress with a decorative collar and she has a large bow in her hair. Horace and Mary's youngest children, Roger Williams Cheney (b. 1908) and Hannah Latimer Cheney (b. 1912), were not born yet at the time the photo was taken.
