DescriptionView of George Wells Cheney, Sr. standing in St. Mark's Square in Venice. He is wearing a long overcoat and cap and is surrounded by a flock of pigeons. One sits on his head and another is in mid-flight, coming to rest on his hand. George is standing in front of one of the three ornate flag poles that stand in front of the doge's palace. Several people sit on the steps at its base. Another flagpole is visible to the far right. There is a very long, three-story builiding in the background. It is covered in arched windows.
