DescriptionSeveral groups marching along Asylum Street in Hartford participating in the 200th Anniversary of the Governor's Foot Guard, established in 1771. Groups include: The Governor's Foot Guard and band, wearing uniforms with red coats and hats carrying musical instruments; the 2nd Company of Governor's Foot Guards of New Haven, wearing similar uniforms and hats; a group wearing red coats and tall black fur busby hats, possibly the Queen's Guard; a group wearing uniforms similar to the Putnam Phalanx; a fife and drum corps; a group that appears to be wearing Revolutionary War style uniforms; and a bagpipe band wearing kilts. An uniformed marching band has a drum that reads: "The United States [illegible] Band". A man wearing a red uniform coat and holding a clarinet under his arm is probably from the Queen's Guard group. A yellow convertible automobile carrying Abraham Ribicoff has a sign reading, "Mr. Ribicoff / US Senator"; another automobile with two passengers has a sign reading, "Mr. Ford / British Consul General". Men, women, and children line the streets watching the parade, some standing, and some seated in lawn chairs.
