DescriptionPortrait by an unknown artist of Harriet Ann Pond Peck Terry and one of her sons, either Ozias Willard Peck or Stephen Terry. Family history identified the infant as Ozias (b. 1835). However, Harriet Peck Terry's smooth, swooping hairstyle and the shape of her sleeve reflect fashions not seen in New England until the 1840s. Thus, her second son, Stephen, born in 1842, may be the baby she holds on her lap. The infant wears a dress and holds a hairbrush in his left hand. Mrs. Peck wears a white lace-trimmed day cap which ties under her chin. Her black dress has long sleeves and she wears a narrow shawl collar in white.
