DescriptionQuarter-length portrait of Julia Beach Phelps (Mrs. Walter Phelps) by an unknown artist in the style of Henry Inman. Phelps, facing half right, is a young woman with dark hair fashioned into curls on the sides of her head with the rest pulled back. She is wearing a black dress with a white lace collar, jet and gold earrings, and a jet and gold brooch. There is a red curtain on the right side with a landscape beneath it in the lower right corner.
NotesConstituent note: When this painting was surveyed by WACC for conservation, Michael Heslip identified it as one of several that may have been done by Waldo & Jewett, based on "both style of treatment and the appearance of the textured ground."Status
