DescriptionWaist-length portrait of Samuel Wyllys Pomeroy by Ralph Earl. Pomeroy is wearing a dark coat and vest and a white ruffled stock. His left hand holds the brim of his hat. He is wearing a white wig. A view of Hartford can be seen behind him on the left. The top of a walking stick is visible in his right hand.
NotesConstituent note: Pomeroy's aunt, Susan Strong, wrote him a letter in March 1792 in which she states, "We have had your portrait in the room the most of the winter -- Mr Earl brought it to take the prospect from the Hall window."
