DescriptionGovernor's Foot Guard officer's undress uniform cap in the "overseas" style. Completely machine-stitched of tan tropical weight worsted wool. The cap is lined with tan-colored polyester satin. It is trimmed on the top of the band with mixed black and gold soutache braid. The cap has a brown leather sweatband, which has "CAPT. W. WHITNEY/ 1 BN CBQ" written on the proper right side near the rear. The cap is ornamented on the proper left side near the front with a gold oak leaf or palm leaf pin, which is typically an insignia for the rank of major.
NotesHistorical Note: According to museum records, Warren S. Whitney wore this cap while a captain in the Governor's Foot Guard.
