DescriptionThree-quarter-length portrait of a woman seated at a table. She wears a dress, apparently of satin, with a V-shaped waistline, and short sleeves decorated with two layers of ruffles. A rose is pinned to the low-cut neckline and she wears a second rose in her hair. She has a bracelet on her left wrist. With her right hand, she is sealing a letter, using a seal that hangs around her neck on a long chain. The letter rests on a portable writing desk. Also on the desk is a piece of sealing wax. A quill pen is in an inkwell at the far left. A floral printed tablecloth covers the table. Drapery is on the far right. Wallpaper with a pattern of stripes and stylized flowers is on the wall in the background.
