DescriptionFull-length portrait of a young woman seated on an ornate Empire style sofa. She is wearing a long-sleeved dress with a V-shaped waistline and wide lace collar. Her jewelry includes a ring on her left hand and a necklace of beads or pearls. She leans her head on her right hand and gazes to the left. She holds a handkerchief in her right hand. Printed drapery is in the right background. Patterned wallpaper is in the left background.
NotesTechnique Note: This print exhibits the use of tuche (lithographic wash), characteristic of Kelloggs & Thayer. In this case, the contrast between the dark tuche and the lighter areas is exaggerated and not too pleasing. (Finlay 11/25/2003)
