DescriptionA three-quarter-length portrait of a young woman and a girl. The woman wears a dress with a V-shaped waistline, and a low neckline and short sleeves, both trimmed with lace. Her jewelry includes a necklace of beads or pearls, pendant earrings, and a bracelet. She is seated and holds a landscape print, possibly a lithograph. The girl stands beside her with her arms around her neck. She wears a long-sleeved dress with a bow at the neck and a bracelet. A tree and a rose bush are in the leftt background. A single rose is on the stone parapet at the right. In the right distance is a town or city on a river, surrounded by hills. Two sailboats are on the river.
