DescriptionPortrait of four of George Wells and Angeline Ives Bartholomew's children, painted by an unknown artist. Harriet Ives Bartholomew, Harry Shelton Bartholomew, Frances Parthenia Bartholomew, and Mary Elizabeth Bartholomew are arranged in a group. Harriet, at the back, and Mary, in the front, are both wearing pinkish-red dresses. Frances, on the right, is wearing a darker dress, and Henry is wearing a jacket, shirt, and bowtie. Mary is holding a flower.
NotesDate note: The portrait is thought to have been painted around 1839 or 1840, prior to Jane Estelle Bartholomew's birth on March 28, 1840, by which point Harriet, Frances, and Mary Bartholomew had all died of typhoid fever: Harriet on October 16, 1837, Frances on January 1, 1839, and Mary on January 18, 1839.Status
