DescriptionMan's morning coat (.a) of a deep heather gray/black twill-woven wool lined with a black silk fabric. The front closure is constructed with a single button at the center front of the proper right side, with a corresponding keyhole buttonhole on the proper left. The button is covered with a finely woven checkerboard and twill patterned fabric. All of the edges of the coat are trimmed with a black silk braid, 3/8 inch wide. Notched collar. The coat is constructed with a waist seam. There is a dart on each side front, extending from the hip level, crossing the waist seam and ending at chest level. A second dart is stitched at each side under the arm, above the waist seam. The upper back has a center back seam and two curved side seams. The skirt at the back has a dart extending down from the outer side seam to hip level. Note that each side of the skirt is continuous from front to center back. The center back of the skirt has a pleat on each side, with the proper right side trimmed with the silk braid. The back opening is hand stitched closed. A button, just like that on the front, is stitched to the waist seam at the bottom of each inner side back seam. The sleeves are made from two shaped pieces. A cuff is defined on each sleeve by the silk braid, stitched 2 1/4 inches above the hem, with two buttons, smaller than that on the front, stitched along the back seam. There is an upturned flap pocket, trimmed with the braid, on the proper left breast. Other pockets are located in the lining. The coat is lined with a black silk lining. The sleeves are lines with an off-white silk. Pockets are sewn into the lining as follows: the waist seam on the proper left side, the breast on the proper right, and into each side of the skirt at the back. Each pocket is made of black cotton.

Man's pants (.b) made from gray and black striped twill-woven wool, suitable for wearing with a morning coat. The fabric is patterned with narrow stripes of a light gray alternating with a darker gray stripe and a narrower one of black outlined in white. Light gray, black, light gray, dark gray, light gray, black, etc. The front closure has two black plastic buttons in the fly, with a third, smaller button at the waistband. A small, tan-colored button is sewn inside the proper left side, with a corresponding flap and buttonhole on the proper right to secure the fly closed. The waistband is 1 5/8 inches wide. There are six belt loops, 3/8 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches long. There are also suspender buttons. A pair of tan-colored plastic buttons is stitched to the inside of the waistband at each side front. A third pair of black plastic buttons, stamped with a texture, is sewn to the outside at the center back. A watch pocket is located in the waistband seam on the proper right front. Two more pockets are stitched into each of the side seams. Each side back has a double welt pocket, with the proper left pocket having a black plastic button closure. The pockets are made from a white twill-woven cotton. The pants are constructed with a dart extending down from the waistband on each side back, through each pocket. The waistband is lined with a white twill fabric. The hem length for each leg is slightly longer at the back than the front. All seams are overcast by machine.

Man's vest (.c) of a deep heather gray/black twill-woven wool with a black silk satin back and white twill-woven cotton lining. The front closure has six small, covered buttons. The buttons are covered with a finely woven checkerboard and twill patterned fabric, just like the coat. There are corresponding keyhole buttonholes on the proper left side. The center front edges are trimmed with black silk braid, which extends across the hem at the back. The hem at the front is pointed on each side front. There is no collar. The vest is constructed with two darts, one on each side front, extending up from the hem. The outer darts are longer than the inner two. Two pockets are stitched on each side front at the breast, with an additional pocket sewn at each hip, through the darts. All four are upturned flap pockets. The back is made from a black silk satin fabric. Each side piece has a dart, extending up from the hem to the lower back area. There is the merest hint of an upwards curve on each side of the center back seam. A black satin belt is stitched into the side seams and caught into each dart. There is a metal buckle stitched ot the proper left belt. The vest is lined with a white twill-woven cotton.
