DescriptionMan's double-breasted duster of tan-colored fabric with a cotton warp and wool weft. The duster has a 3 1/2-inch-wide turn-down collar. The front opening fastens with five large, flat mother of pearl buttons on the proper left side; the buttons along the right side are non-functional. The duster fastens all the way up to the collar. There is a slash pocket covered by a placket opening on each side of the front. The center back seam is vented for eighteen inches. The two-piece sleeves are set into the shoulder with raglan seams. The wrist openings have turned-back cuffs which fasten in place with two mother of pearl buttons. The duster is unlined, except along the front opening, which has a self-fabric facing; the seams are flat-felled.
NotesHistorical Note: According to museum records, Bryant Tolles, Sr., wore this duster while driving an early automobile.
