DescriptionWorld War II uniform overcoat belonging to either Nicholas or Domenic Lorenzo of Hartford, Connecticut.

The coat is composed of an olive green felted wool. The back of the coat has a center seam and a 23 3/4-inch vent that can be closed by securing the three 1/2-inch plastic buttons found there. A self-fabric belt across the back of the coat measures 14 1/2" x 2 3/4". Two one-inch plastic buttons are on this belt, both with an eagle and American flag motif. The coat is double-breasted, with seven identical buttons on the front. The collar and sleeves are both two-pieced. Two 1/2-inch plastic buttons (also with the eagle and American flag) are at epaulets found at each shoulder. Two slashed pockets are at the front of the coat. Only the bodice and sleeves are lined with a matching olive twill-woven cotton. The front pockets are accessable from the interior of the coat. They are closed with 1/2-inch plain plastic buttons, identical to the ones found on the vent.
NotesIt is unclear whether or not this belonged to the donor's grandfather, Nicholas Lorenzo or his father, Domenic Lorenzo. Nicholas Lorenzo registered for the WWII draft, but it is unclear whether or not he actually served. Domenic Lorenzo did serve in WWII with the Air Army Corps. The donor believed the overcoat belonged to his grandfather Nicholas as part of his WWI uniform, but the overcoat is clearly a WWII coat. More research needs to be done (11/19/2018 MT).
