DescriptionWoman's evening dress of cream colored netting with appliquéd tape lace flowers over a pale gold-colored silk lining. The dress has a wide, round neckline which is edged with plain netting that has been gathered on three rows of cording. A bertha of mixed Brussels lace encircles the neckline. The short sleeves consist of three layers of bobbin-lace-edged netting under the lace bertha. The bodice front has an inset rounded panel of gathered netting under the bertha. The bodice is smoothly fitted, flaring out into the skirt below the waist. The bottom of the skirt which is trained has a flounce of the netting appliquéd with swags and flowers of tape lace. This flounce is laid over a finely pleated linen of pale yellow, sheer silk. The gold silk dress lining is a separate construction in the skirt. Black velvet ribbons terminating in gold bead tassels fall over the shoulders in front. The ribbons meet at the waistline in the back under a rhinestone ornament, then two wider black ribbon tails fall down the center back below the waist; the ends are trimmed with black knotted fringe. The gold silk lining fabric is gathered around the inside bust area of the dress to provide fullness. The bodice seams are all boned. The center back opening fastens with metal hooks and eyes. A woven tape label is stitched inside the waist area at front: "J. Ljungholm / HARTFORD, CONN."
