DescriptionWorld War I uniform belonging to Nicholas Lorenzo of Hartford, Connecticut.
Coat: olive green Army coat with two breast and two hip patch pockets with 1/2-inch buttons as flap closures. The coat is fastened with five one-inch buttons running down the center front. 1/2-inch buttons are also found on the epaulets on both shoulders. All buttons bear the military insignia of an eagle and the American flag. Two decorative buttons have been placed on the stand up collar. The button on the proper right side reads "U.S. NA, 303". The button on the proper left reads "MG. B". The body of the jacket is lined in a brown twill-woven cotton, and the sleeves are lined in a green plain-woven cotton. There is one interior pocket found in the front left of the jacket. Two patches have been applied to the left sleeve of the jacket using hand-stitching. The first patch, at the shoulder, is round (approximately 2 1/2-inch diameter) and edged in blue. One perpendicular line is crossed by two parallel lines, and under this motif are the letters "A.S." The second patch is approximately 3 1/2 inches below the first. This patch is a red arrow directed upward.

Jodpurs: The jodpurs are composed of the same olive green plain-woven wool as the jacket. The interior of the waist band and pockets are made from a plain-woven cotton. Five 1/2-inch buttons, reading "U.S.A.", serve as a fly closure. The front of the pants has two slashed pockets (the right one has a small welt pocket), and the back has two welt pockets. Six self-fabric belt loops are found along the waistband. The bottom six inches of the pant legs are laced (fourteen gromets). The olive cotton laces are finished with metal tips. The pants are stitched in a quilted fashion on the inside of both pant legs, beginning three inches up from the bottom and continuing upward for approximately 13 1/2 inches; this was achieved through the application of an additional piece of self-fabric.
