DescriptionA military camp, consisting of rows of tents surrounding a parade ground, is located beside a body of water, presumably part of Long Island Sound. A group of approximately fifty-four soldiers stands at attention in front of a flag pole with an American flag. Men and women stand in the field at the right. One man leans against a haystack. Another walks along a dirt road at the far right. A split rail fence surrounds the field and encampment. Men and a boy in the right foreground play on a swing and sit on a wooden bench beside what appears to be a picnic table. Other men stand by the fence looking at the soldiers. A man and a woman are at the far right, near a picket fence. Two small sailboats and a canoe or rowboat are in the water in the left foreground, near some large rocks. Trees are in the background.
