DescriptionA young man with a beard stands on a paved walk in front of a house with lattice windows and a column and brackets supporting an overhang. He wears a military uniform consisting of a jacket with epaulettes, a sash, and pants. He holds a military helmet with a plume in his left hand. With his right hand, he embraces a young woman. She wears a dress trimmed with lace and holds what appears to be a locket in her hand. A second soldier on horseback is by the gate, holding a riderless horse. Flowers grow in the left foreground.
