DescriptionWoman's dress, consisting of a separate bodice & skirt. The flared skirt is stiffened with an interlining; it is made of a cream-colored slubby silk printed with magenta roses and gray and green leaves. Some of the roses are overlaid with faux roses of a matching color, some with plush petals. Faux leaves of embossed plush and stems of golden tan bias tape are also applied over the printed flowers. A cluster of three magenta roses with trailing loops of the golden tan "stem" material, is stitched to the proper left side of the waist. The 3-inch wide waistband is covered with horizontal tucks of self fabric. The skirt opens on the proper left side with an 8-inch long metal zipper headed with three metal hooks & eyes. Over the stiff interlining, the skirt has a cream-colored synthetic fiber lining.
The bodice is made of green slubby silk and is closely fitted with both vertical and diagonal darts. The bodice has a wide square neckline in front, and V-shaped neckline in back. It is sleeveless. The center back is decorated with two self-fabric bows over a 4 1/2" long opening of the center back opening, which fastens with a hook and eye at the top. The main opening of the bodice is a zipper set into the left side seam. A peplum-like extension of fashion fabric below the waistline would be tucked inside the skirt. The bodice is lined with golden-tan synthetic fiber.
