NotesSubject Note: From the Town of Manchester website, information about this event and its history: “The late Joseph Negri, a former member of the Board of Directors, started Pride In Manchester Week as a one-day event, when residents volunteered their time cleaning up the streets of Manchester. The program grew each year, adding a senior dance, roller-skating party, and a concert. The Pride committee invites community organizations to participate by offering free events to the public. From 1991 to 2015, Heritage Day was held on the final Saturday of Pride week, and it was based on "Homeland Day," a day set aside in 1914 by Cheney Brothers to recognize and celebrate the many ethnic backgrounds of those who came to Manchester to work in the Cheney silk mills. Starting in 2016, we have combined Heritage Day with the Concert in the Park on the first Saturday of June.” (Source: http://prideinmanchester.townofmanchester.org/) CCHAP suggested participants to Heritage Day committee member Mary Ann Handley.
