DescriptionProgram for the Enfield Heritage Fair, 2008.
NotesSubject Note: This Multicultural Festival/Diversity Day was organized by the Enfield School System in 2008; these are still held although not in 2020 or 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. CCHAP is often called upon to suggest participants in multicultural festivals around the state and did advise on this one. This event was notable for including the Somali Bantu chant group, a group of women who dance and sing songs reciting the Koran. Most members of this community in Connecticut reside in Enfield. The community in Connecticut is small but very close-knit, and connects often with Somali Bantu families in Springfield, Massachusetts, and Maine. CCHAP presented the chant group at CHS in 2015 and has worked closely with basket makers from this community.

Additional audio, video, and/or photographic materials exist in the archive relating to this event and these artists.
