NotesSubject Note: All Saints Orthodox Church on 205 Scarborough St. in Hartford, established in 1914 and holding services at a building on Broad St., moved to its new church in 1964. All Saints is a member of the Orthodox Churches in America, originally formed in Alaska when it was part of the Russian Empire and Orthodox church structure but now takes a more ecumenical character. All Saints has a noted history of liturgical singing with concerts given locally, and continues to have a choir and chanter. Its icons have been restored and new ones added. The Church is active in community outreach, providing food drives, elderly visits, scholarships, and support for Eastern European causes. It hosts children’s, youth, and adult education groups. All Saints has held an annual event (a major fundraiser for the church) the first weekend in November since 1973. Called the Russian Tea Room and Bazaar, this popular weekend festival features fresh and frozen Eastern European foods for sale, children’s activities, folk arts crafts sales, traditional pastries and breads, a hot lunch, and church tours.
