NotesSubject Note: This event was organized by Feile, the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield whose members also pressent the Fairfield County Irish Festival, which got its start as a “feis” event beginning in 1955 by members of the Bridgeport Irish community who had formed the Gaelic-American Club. This event developed into an annual festival first held in 1988 at Roger Ludlow Field in Fairfield and recently at Fairfield University. The Club settled in Fairfield and formed Feile, a non-profit dedicated to promoting Irish culture through the development of the Gaelic American Cultural Center which opened in Fairfield in 1993. The Center has expanded through the growth of Feile as a membership and educational organization. The Festival presents local and international Irish performers, stepdancing, pipe bands, and sports.
