NotesSubject Note: Mexican Independence Day, held on September 16, has been celebrated for several years since the mid-2010s in Hartford. Organized by Mexican artist Carlos Hernandez Chavez and others, the event has been held at the State Capitol with a flag raising, speeches by prominent Mexican residents, and music. In 2017, the official event was followed by a reception for the community at Holy Trinity Church, 53 Capitol Ave. Hartford, where the Mariachi Academy of Hartford held its classes for a time.
