NotesSubject Note: The Chinese Culture Center, formed in 1980 and based in East Hartford, organized cultural programs and Chinese New Year celebrations in the Greater Hartford area. Their mission has been to promote Chinese cultural activities, establish a language school, encourage business relationships, help orient new Chinese residents into Greater Hartford, and educate audiences about Chinese culture. They collaborated with Asian Performing Arts and Malee’s School of Tai Chi and Kung Fu to present this event.

Biographical Note: Asian Performing Arts is a troupe of performers who present programs on Chinese arts including vocal and instrumental music, traditional and artistic dance, Chinese arts instruction, and martial arts. The group, based in Greater Hartford since 1997, provides educational activities for schools and cultural organizations. They often perform at Chinese New Year celebrations and the Riverfront Dragon Boat Festival. Founder and Director Stephanie Sum has also served as a language teacher for the Chinese language Academy and Chinese Cultural Center. (Source: http://www.asianperformingarts-ct.org/)
