DescriptionCrazy quilt consisting of thirty square blocks. Each block consists of irregularly shaped pieces of fabric that are foundation-pieced, or hand-stitched onto a backing; each block is then hand-stitched together. Fabrics in the quilt include silk, velvet, voided velvets, and ciselé, or cut and uncut velvets; the crazy quilt also incorporates ribbon. The crazy quilt is further decorated with embroidery where the fabric is joined and chenille and silk embroidered designs, such as human figures, a horseshoe, flowers, a butterfly, a fan and a cauldron. Each side of the top is edged with a wide border of red satin-woven silk. The backing is red taffeta.
