DescriptionGirl's or small woman's unboned corset of white cotton sateen. The corset is shaped by two gussets set into the top edge in front to accommodate the bust. The gussets are outlined by two rows of brown top stitching. A 1 1/2-inch-wide slot for a busk is stitched down the center front; the vertical opening to access the busk is 2 1/4 inches long, with the edges bound with twill tape. The edges of the center back opening are curved inwards; several rows of cording laid along the edges provide strength and stability. There are twelve stitched eyelets on the proper right side, and eleven on the left side, indicating the use of a spiral lacing. The shoulder straps are 2 7/8 inches wide at the back, tapering to 1 1/4 in the front; they are bound separately with white linen tape and stitched to the upper corners of the corset, front and back. The top and bottom edges of the corset are bound with plain-woven white cotton. Plain, white cotton is used for the lining.
