The crazy quilt has a center panel of deep purple velvet surrounded by a bright blue silk border, a foundation-pieced border, a second bright blue silk border and a multi-color ball fringe at all four sides. The commemorative ribbons incorporated into the quilt include references to the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, the Knights of Columbus, the Connecticut Naval Veterans Association, the Governor's Foot Guard, the Connecticut Bicycle Club; one ribbon includes a metal gun and fringe. Some ribbons have dates, the latest of which is 1886. The larger pieces of silk are hand-painted with flowers. The crazy quilt is foundation-pieced. The backing is a golden brown twill-woven flannel.

Condition: Several pieces of silk are shattered. A few balls are missing from the fringe.
