DescriptionThree-quarter length portrait of a middle aged man wearing a greenish-gray coat, gray vest, black breeches, white stock, ruffled shirt front, and ruffled cuffs. His gray hair is long. He sits in a chair upholstered in red with his left arm resting on a table and his right hand on a document. Two books are on the table. In the left background there is a fluted column, and on the right there is an open window with the sash and a pink curtain at the top, through which is seen a field and trees in the distance.
