DescriptionPressed colorless glass paperweight consisting of a rectangular glass block with curved edges and corners. The bottom surface of the paperweight is recessed; the edge of the recess is serrated. A photograph is fitted into the recessed area. The photograph shows a four-story manufacturing building with at least two smokestacks, surrounded by roads and fields. Below this is the title, "THE TRUMBULL ELECTRIC MFG. CO./ ELECTRICAL SUPPLIES/ PLAINVILLE, CONN. --- U. S. A./ CRUVER MFG. CO. CHICAGO U.S.A.H.P.P." The text is flanked by a white circle with a "T" inside. The well on the back of the paperweight has been painted over with cream-colored paint to adhere the paper surface to the paperweight; some of that paint has come off.
NotesHistorical Note: Florence Trumbull Coolidge was the daughter of Governor John Harper Trumbull (1873-1961). Her father was the director of the Trumbull Electric Manufacturing Company. (Hudson 2/15/2006)Historical Note: According to data from the J. H. Trumbull Scrapbooks (1919-1945) at the Connecticut Historical Society, the Trumbull Electric Manufacturing Company was located in Plainville, Connecticut. It also had plants in Kentucky.
