DescriptionWoman's coat of black and white houndstooth checked wool (or wool / synthetic fiber). The coat has a tab collar and a belted waist. The center front opening fastens with a single, large plastic button that is colored green, greenish-yellow, and black to resemble a cat's eye. The coat front turns back like lapels, or it can button at the upper left, just below the collar. There is a large patch pocket on each side below the waist; the pockets are covered with pocket flaps. The long sleeves have turned back cuffs with a button over a pointed tab. The coat skirt is given fullness by means of pleats in the side back seams. The coat is lined in the shoulder area only, with beige synthetic satin. Woven tape label stitched at the center back neckline reads: "G. Fox & Co. / Hartford, Conn" in yellow on dark blue, with a gothic-style "F" within a laurel wreath to frame the left of the name.
