DescriptionWoman's hat formed of randomly folded faux raffia, of a pale olive green color. The hat is shaped with a tall straight-sided crown, which is covered with a large mesh tan colored net over the raffia. Wrapping around the crown is a broad beige grosgrain ribbon, with the free ends on the proper right sides self fringed. The brim is flat and slightly wider in front then in back. The edge of the brim is bound with the grosgrain ribbon. The underside of the brim is lined with beige knit fabric. The crown is lined with stiff netting. The original hat pin is stuck into the crown; it has a large white wooden bead and a green silky tassel. Two woven tape labels appear on the ribbon inside the crown: "G. FOX & CO. / EST. 1847 / HARTFORD."
