DescriptionWoman's hat, enormous in size, made from blonde horsehair woven tape with feathers and pink fabric flowers for decoration. The brim is approximately six inches wide at the center front, seven inches wide at each side, and 7 3/4 inches wide at the upturned back. It is constructed to angle down from the intersection with the large crown, hanging down to frame the face of the wearer. It is decorated on the underside with a strip of black velvet fabric, 2 1/8 inches wide. The large crown is amost hidden by many long, full feathers. It is approximaely nine inches in diameter and approximately four inches high. Sprigs of large pink feathers with green velvet leaves are interspersed around the base of the crown. On top of the flowers, fluffy, white feathers (ostrich?) have been attached around the side of the crown, with some feathers draped over the top at the center back and the proper right side. The crown is lined with ivory-colored silk, stitched around the edge and drawn up at the center top with a casing through which a ribbon has been run. A second piece of fabric can be seen beneath this.
