DescriptionA mob of men in civilian clothes is attacking a regiment of soldiers in uniform. Most of the civilians are throwing paving stones from the cobblestone street. One man shoots a pistol, another shoots a rifle. One man appears to be African American. Some men appear to be dead or wounded. The soldiers stand in formation, firing rifles with fixed bayonets into the crowd. Three men watch from a second story window at the left. The masts and sails of sailing vessels are in the right background.
