DescriptionHousecoat made of a tourquoise-colored fabric flecked with dots of gold. The fabric surface has been textured by heat-pressing a pattern of fine, undulating lines to it, creating a rippling effect. The front closure consists of a top snap covered by a black velvet ribbon bow and five buttons with button holes. Two button holes are used to ornament the wide collar, which also has a slit in the center back. There are no armholw sleeves; seams are present down the arm from the top of the shoulder. The back of the coat has one pleat on each side of the center seam and a seam on each side that extends down from the neckline and over the side seam under the arm. Patch pockets with pointed bottoms are stitched over each side seam. The sleeves are short with wide cuffs, slit at the top. The round buttons are made of white plastic with two concentric grooves around the circular center.
The box is made of cardboard. The bottom is white, and the top has a lined pattern of light green on white, with the words, "Sage-Allen of Hartford."
