DescriptionWoman's cap of off-white cotton in an uneven, corded plain weave that creates a small, checked pattern in the fabric. The cap is constructed of two brim pieces, stitched together at the center top with a corded seam, and extending several inches below the line of the bottom of the crown. The oval-shaped crown piece is gathered at the top and base of the neck. The cap is edged with 1/2-inch-wide, machine-made Leavers lace. The ties, made of the same fabric, are eight inches long and 1 1/8 inch wide, with an 1/8-inch hem all around. The ties are stitched to the front corners of the brim.
