DescriptionMan's black wool frock coat with a black silk lining. The double-breasted closure has three sets of ferrous metal buttons covered with black satin, with corresponding hand-stitched buttonholes. The lapels are peaked and notched, with the notch stitched closed. They are lined with a black silk satin. Each lower lapel has a buttonhole stitched into it. Each side front piece has a 2 1/2-inch dart for fitting. The side seams are located to the back, not directly below the arm. The center back seam has a curved seam on each side; a covered button identical to those on the front is stitched at the base of each side seam where it meets the waistline seam and the pleats in the coat skirt. The shaped sleeves are made of an upper and lower piece with a simple hem at the cuff. Two smaller covered buttons are stitched to each outer sleeve seam. The shoulder seams angle down away from the top of the shoulder. There is one pocket in the back of each skirt piece. There are two breast pockets, one on each side, with narrow double-welts. The majority of the lining is a black silk faille. The sleeves are lined with a striped silk, blue on white. A satin ribbon is stitched to the center back of the neck.
