NotesSubject Note: Subjects are William Leonard Gage and his wife, Caroline Aiken Gage. The silhouettes were presumably cut when these Connecticut residents were on vacation at Coney Island. (Finlay 6/12/2003)

Subject Note: William Leonard Gage (1832-1889) was the pastor of the Pearl Street Church in Hartford and a prolific author. His books included Helen on her Travels: What She Saw and What She Did in Europe (1868), Verses (1870), and Three Sermons Preached at Hartford (1873), among many others. (Finlay 6/12/2003)
