DescriptionFormal studio portraits of William Leonard Gage as a young man, a middle-aged man, and an elderly man. In mature portraits, he has a beard and sometimes a mustache. He wears a coat, vest, shirt, and tie. In a series of portraits taken on a trip to Ireland, Gage appears with other men, seated in a cart drawn by a horse. A painted backdrop is in the background. 2003.20.28 is a series of four portraits on a single sheet depicting Gage at various ages from youth to old age; presumably these are copies of pre-existing cabinet cards.
